Okay guys I am new to the forum and this is my first Tribute it is an 01 DX V6 auto. Now my question is does this model use the transponder key for the ignition? I only got 1 key with it when purchased and need another. I also have a Mazda key that will only open the doors and back hatch. I have ordered 2 new key FOB's so do I need to get two new keys with or without transmitter chips or how do I know if it needs the chip key? Thanks

Hop in the car, close the door, keep the key/keys in your pocket, look at the instrument cluster ( speedo & rev counter) does a little red light flash every few seconds?

Yes : It has a immobiliser. Next thing is to get the new keys cut & coded.

No : It doesn't have a immobiliser.
