When I turn on the ignition the needle swings from empty to full and remains there throughout the whole journey say of 200 kilometres.

When turning off the ignition the needle returns to empty.

I have tried the following without success.

1. Ignition switch ON
2. Press odo/trip button until odometer is put into odo mode
3. Turn off ignition
4. Press and hold odo/trip button
5. Release odo/trip button

In the last procedure, the odometer turns to trip and a further press returns it to odo as is normal.

I feel that I may have caused the problem as I was fiddling with the odo/trip for some time to set it to trip before the start of a long journey.

Your advice would be appreciated
