Default front crash sensors

Can someone please tell me or show me where the front crash sensors are located on a 2004 tribute. My air bag light is on and the code says left front crash sensor may not be attached to the vehicle properly. I just got the car and it was a repairable. I dont know if the air bags were deployed but they are in the car now. Thank you.

What's the actual code you're getting?

Well after a LOT of googling I found this, the crash sensor seems to be a single unit, front of the engine compartment, marked C177 here. The actual sensor normally looks like a black cube with a wiring connector plugging into one face, they are normally bolted to something fairly stiff like chase or maybe radiator strut, something like that. I'd imagine this one is maybe under the fan assembly so hard to see from above???

HTH :-)

Thank you simonsi. I too have googled the hell out of this to no avail. I will look again in that area but I have been under this car looking numerous time and have not seen any sensor or wires that would go to a sensor in that area. I may pull the fans out to see. What I dont understand is the code says it is the left front sensor? Well the surch goes on. Thanks again.

I think that is probably nomenclature, if you have a single crash sensor it is referred to as "Left", if you have two it will be "Left" and "Right", similar to O2 sensor naming, on an inline engine the cylinder bank is referred to as "bank 1" even though there is no "bank 2" except on the V6's.

check the wiring connectors under the front seats as they can cause the code if you put something under the seats the wires seem to be very loose in their plugs
