Default BCM problems

The battery of my 2010 Tribute is going dead and my mechanic says it's a problem with the BCM. He tried to charge me $1,000 for replacing it and programming it, which is ridiculous so I took the car. I was wondering if anyone had any advice. I see that I can get a new BCM for as little as $150. However, how much should I expect to be charged for programming? Are dealerships the best place to do this?

If you get a second hand BCM, it will need to be exactly the same part number as your old unit.

To the best of my knowledge, only Mazda can reprogramme it to your vehicle.
