Default 2006 V6 Compression values

Hello everyone

I'm currenlty buying a 06 V6 Tribute - I had it tested by our local motoring organisation which gave the vehicle a "in good condition" report.

The car was sold new in 07, has 12mth Mazda Factory Warranty left, and has done 36,727kms.

Which seems a great buy.

However, the reports printout gave the results of a Relative Compression Test : from cyl 1 to 6 as:

82
100
72
88
65
98

Does anyone know what Mazda's recommended min compression pressure is, and the max variation? Other engine types suggest 10 to 15% variation.

Is the Mazdas different engine type that is confusing me? These results seem to suggest two cylinders are working correctly, two not so well, two working badly.

I'm I wrong or does the car's engine have problems?
Would appreciate any input - I don't want to buy the car and then have thousands of dollars repairs needed - esp. if Factory warranty doesnt cover the engine?

regards

Rod
