need help!!
my 06 tribute stalls on start but not all the time, usually when i've driven somewhere and left it sitting for an hour or so then try to start it.
It turns over and starts fine but then starts idling real rough to the point i can hear what sounds like the pistons jumping around in the cylinders, real jerky, then it eventually dies.
after turning off, i can then turn it over and it starts fine without a problem.
the car is idling and running smoothly otherwise, although, it would have to be the thirstiest v6 i have ever driven.
engine light is not coming on at all.
any help would be appreciated!!!

 

Could be a leaking injector.

 

I had a similar issue a couple years ago and it was a bad coil on one of the spark plugs.

But, the check engine light was on and the diagnostic code revealed the bad coil.

 

An acquaintance had the same issue, it was the alternator. Same year as yours, v6 with 300,000 km. Warning it was a royal pain to change. Have someone check the alternator as described in a Youtube video.
