I have a 2006 Tribute w a 2.3 AWD that had a rod knock. I removed and disassembled the engine. Found #1 connecting rod bearing had spun as suspected. Obviously I have a couple of options. Rebuild vs replacement. I'm a retired ASE Master Tech and have rebuilt hundred of engines over the years.

I found a replacement engine thats local, but , it's out of a 2007 Mazda 6 w a 2.3. Does anyone know if these motors are the same? Meaning block and head

I know I might have to swap a few things. Curious if anyone has any experience with this type of swap..

I was told to use only 2005 - 2007 Tribute or Escape motors for replacement when I was looking. Vin code Z

 

I found an escape with the same engine code, z, can I do a direct swap or will I need to do computer work?
