Unhappy 2005 Tribute - Change in MPG?

I have a 2005 Tribute 6-cyl FWD that I bought new. Up until a few months ago, I got 21 mpg in town and 24 mpg highway. Suddenly it dropped to 19 in town and 21 highway, and now is only 20 highway.
No change in driving conditions or style.
Firestone mechanic cleaned fuel injectors, but n/g.
I don't want to take it to a mazda mechanic until I have some idea of what might be going on (don't want to walk in with a target on my back).
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

This might sound too simple but you might just need a new air and/or fuel filter.
