Default 2004 Tribute Running Problem

Hi all,

Wonder if you can help me. I have been chasing down a hard starting fault with my 2004 Tribute for years. Finally got it virtually right last year with two new exhaust manifolds. They were cracked.

Anyway now I have got another problem and I don’t know where to turn. The car runs terribly. When you rev it it’s fine but on idle it sounds awful. I changed all the intake manifold gaskets and pipe work last year, as well as the PCV valve and pipe work as well as the EGR valve and EVAP valve. Lambda probes new with Denso items last year. The coils are 18 months old as mine split around the potting compound.

Fuel pressure is spot on and I have checked the continuity of the wires from each ECU pin to each sensor and all is good.

I am getting fault codes P2195 and P2197. I have plugged in the scan tool and when you rev the car the lambda probe plot oscillates nicely between 0.1v and 0.9v but when idling they flatline to 0v

When the car is running I can spray carb cleaner around every joint on the intake and there is no change in idle speed.

I really don’t want to give up on the motor but in the UK the car doesn’t have much of a following so no real experts to turn to. Really appreciate any help anyone may have?

Thanks
Toby
