2001 Tribute code 1409
I have a 2001 Tribute 3.0 V-6. It shows 258 K but the drive train(engine and Trans ) have only 121K. I got a check engine light 3 months ago with code 1409, I replaced the EGR control solenoid and the code went away. 3 months later the code came back. Replaced the solenoid again, code comes back after 2nd start up. Took it to my local shop, they replaced the EGR valve, checked the wiring and did a few test they said, drove it , no code, after 2nd start up, when I picked it up code 1409 back after running about 30 seconds. They suggested a PCM problem. I got a re-manned PCM, supposedly checked out ok and reflashed with my vin #. Had it installed and had keys flashed to it. Same problem still exists. Clear the code and you can drive it for as long as you want, as soon as you cut it off and restart the code 1409 will come back. Any suggestions. I've also replaced the EGR pressure feedback sensor as well. Really not looking forward to a trip to a Mazda dealership as a re-manned computer from Mazda is over $1200.
