Default 04 Mazda rear disc e brake stuck

I have an 04 Mazda Tribute wth disc brakes. I was trying to replace the rear rotors and the e brack is not releasing from the rotor. Need help/ tips to get the rotor free and off. Please help? Thank you in advance.

I had same problem. Unscrew your disc brake pads. Then gently tap the rotor from behind. Try tapping the rotor drum part too.

What’s happening is the rear e brake cable has an actuator. You can see it at the top of the drum brake. You can try hitting that to close it (release tension on the drum brake)

that actuator is likely all all rusted and stuck in the “open” position. You can buy a new drum brake kit with it or you can take it off and grind off the rust like i did.
