My wife has a '03 Mazda Tribute from new. I don't drive it often so I can't give a whole lot of info. Lately it won't start on the typical turn of the key. Usually happens when it's cold (engine and temp) and it's been single digits and teens here in PA. She called me out to work when it didn't start. I cranked it for 5-10 seconds while pumping the gas and it fired up. Same thing today but she was able to do the crank and pump to get it to start. Otherwise it runs perfectly. Even after the hard starts it runs well. It's the 6 cyl. engine. Any ideas what to look for?

I have the exact same problem. It begins with a rought idling on cold start, so I've changed the upper and lower intake gascket, spark plug and EGR valve. It solved my problem creating a new one... The engine start for about one or two seconds then stall, cranking again I give a good shut on the gas pedal then the car runs great for the rest of the day. Now I'm wating for an idea!
