Default Higher mileage on RX8??

Ok everyone I am looking to buy and rx8 used and the big thing is how many miles do I want on it. I have seen them used with between 8,000mi and 16,000mi GT package for about $20,000-22,000 and cars with 17,000 mi to 30,000 for any where from $15,000 to $18,000. so my ? is ..is the few lower miles worth the couple extra grand. How do these engines hold up b/c last year I drove over 30,000 mi. now that will change this year b/c I am no longer commuting so far for work. Any info would be a great help

Thanks,

Default RE: Higher mileage on RX8??

First, I would suggest that you obtain a Car Fax report on any vehicle that you are deciding on buying. Usually these are provided by the dealer for free. Second, if the previous owner had the vehicle serviced through Mazda review the service history. Ensure that maintenance and recall services were performed regularly. Last year I bought my 2004RX-8 with only 12,000 miles. The vehicle had 1 previous owner who decided to return it to Mazda. I have serviced it per the owners manual religiously (i.e. oil changes etc..)and take it in for any recall notices immediately. I have read all of the posts in this forum and noticed all of the issues in relation to flooding etc.. I have not experience any of this. However, when I was shopping for my RX-8, I obtained all of the facts that were available regarding the vehicle. At the end of the day, it was my gut feeling that made me chose this particular vehicle. My gut has served me well in the past and it has served me well on my RX-8.
