Question help rpms buffetting

Guys I need some help. I have a 2004 mazda rx8. It has about 51k miles on it. All of a sudden earlier this week. I noticed in my upper gears example 3rd 4th 5th and 6th when I'm at about 2500 rpm's if I give it gas my rp m's go up about 500 then I lose some power but not much and then they go down 500 then resume going back up. Im almost positive its not my clutch going bad. But I can't figure out what it could be can someone please help me if they know.

Thanks

Derek

older RX7's had a "3500rpm stumble" due to a poor engine ground. It is possible that the RX8 has a similar problem... it definitely sounds like a sensor issue, and that's about the RPM where some ECU's will switch between using one O2 sensor and another (switch to wideband O2).
I assume there are no engine codes. You may want to have someone with a PC based system look at the sensors when you're driving to see what it looks like, and if anything seems to jump at the 2500RPM mark.
