Default Heater problems

I have an 04 RX8 and for some reason the heater does not work, it has plenty of coolant so Im not sure what's next. Called one place and they said it was probably the control switch on the dash and that it would cost around 600.00 to replace. Anyone have any suggetions on what to check next,

thanks

is it just weak, or completely cold? It could have buildup in the heater core, you can flush it seperately - and 'backwards' to get out any gunk. But it doesn't seem old enough to have those issues.

not sure, I know that doesnt help you any. It is my wife's car and she has told me in the past that it never gets warm on her drive in to work ( about 15 min ). I have driven it the last three days and have not had a problem with it. I talked to one of the repair shops that we have taken it to and they said to turn the **** back and forth ( the one that changes it from hot to cold ). It that helps then it was the control unit going out, just dont want to spen the 600.00 if it is something I could do.
