Main fuse replacement

Main fuse replacement
My 1990 RX-7 convertible won't start. Thinking it was the battery, I tried charging it from another car. That did not work. However, I then noticed that the main fuse was blown. I may have blown it when I was connecting the batteries. I tried to remove the 100 amp main fuse just like the ones next to it that have plugs so I could replace it. No luck. I broke the fuse. Does it have plugs like other fuses? If so, how can I pull it out (I've forced it quite a bit, which is why the plastic broke)? If not, how do I replace it? Must I disconnect the battery while doing all this? Help!!

RE: Main fuse replacement
hay that main fuse is bolted in you must remove the mounting bolts and then you will see two flaps on the side of the main fuse 10mm
bolt place a wash cloth under the fuse rail sop if or when that bols fall out you dont haft to go hunting for it . hope that helps .

RE: Main fuse replacement
Thanks very much for your reply. I'll remove the fuse by taking the two screws out first. I think I blew the fuse out by trying to charge the battery incorrectly. Might I have also damaged other parts? Is the replacement fuse available at places like Pep Boys or is it a dealer part I have to order?
