RE: Will Mazda 6i rims work on a Protégé 5
Hi abergy1! Welcome!
I have seen it done so I know it can be. The question remainsthough if the offset is truly compatible w/the Protos, which I don"t know but you should be able to find out.
If you have the stock alloys, the offset is usually cast or impressed into the back of the wheels around the bolt circle.
Given the current 3 series uses a +52.5mm, I would guess the Protos are more or less the same. (+48, +50, +52.5?)
A 6 series however, has a +60mm, which is pretty deep. The good news is that if it"s too deep for your P5, and/or you have inside rubbing/clearance issues, spacers of all different widths are available. I would rather go that way than try and go the other. This would be an easy fix compared to the alternative. Trying to add positive offset is nearly impossible and always a compromise... usually to wheel strength.

So w/that in mind, and in order to maintain the correct trackforyour car, you could use a set of 12mm spacers to push the wheelsout a bitand you'll be right where you need to be.
Yeah, I like the 6 wheels. If only they weren't so heavy, and 0.5-1" wider...
