I own one and I have never been happier with a car. Since I bought it a year ago I have put thirty thousand miles on it and started working at a mazda dealership. It has the best handling of any front wheel drive vehicle I have ever driven. The turbo only puts out 6 psi but it makes an extra 50 or so horses and sounds great. I have had a problem with brake rotors warping but I am about to go aftermarket to fix that. I have a hole in the exhaust that I am going to fix when I get the money. I have abused this car, really driven the hell out of it and it takes it all with a smile on its face.. I would definitly recommend it.

as far as investment goes, an ms protege is going to be a good one. it is an incredible platform to start from if you do custom work for performance. as with all cars, there are the down sides though. the most important thing to remember is that all cars have their bad sides, the ms pro has very little bad. go for it is the only thing i can say to you
