Default suspension

I am need of new suspension (struts and coils) for my 1999 Protege LX.
Has anyone done this on their own? If so, any suggestions/useful hints would be much appreciated.

Suggestions on what type and where to buy the parts would be helpful too.

Thanks.

Default RE: suspension

It depends what you want to do...performance or stay stock.

If you just want to replace the worn struts, there should be no need to replace the coils. You can replace the coils if you want to lower or make the suspension stiffer...but you have to do all four then.

As for brands it depends on your budget and again, if you want original replacement parts or performance.

I have replaced 100's of struts on most makes and models. The most important thing to remember is that if you have never done struts...have it done professionally! The coil springs are under extreme pressure and can severly injure you if not experienced with them.
