so what is the "touring edition"
so ive had my car for a few months now and its a 1998 protege LX touring edition. and i cant find anything on the web and im just wondering what makes the touring edition different from the regular one. from what i can tell, the lx touring is basically the ES without a sunroof. its got full power options and a 1.8L. is this all there is or are there other things that distinguish it, aside from the decal on the side and back. thanks
I think you will also notice that you have a high center console armrest, factory floor mats where also included in the price, and an automatic transmission. You should also have a rear bumper cover that does not have a black band at the bottom, and warning lights inside the door panels, along with a dash clock.Only DX and ES cars have the textured black band. Some touring edition cars, which were only available in Canada, would also come with alloy wheels, and factory alarm and remote door locks. The North American ES was available with 2 packages. Premium package had a sunroof and alloy wheels, or touring package with the raised center console and floor mats. Also, the ES should have 14 inch wheels, whereas standard LX/DX trim would have a 13 inch wheel.
ABS braking was available as anoption on ES and LX trim.
The ES also comes standard with A/C, and push button electronicclimate controls. The ES also came with special fabrics not available on LX/DXtrim levels. Please post pics of this car. It will be niceto see what it looks like.
