Default Shifter interlock sometimes fails to release.

When I press the brake to shift from park, the shifter is still locked. I don't hear the "click". After a few attempts, it works fine. When it fails to release, I simply stick a pencil in the hole to manually disengage it. This typically only happens when it sits overnight. Once it releases, it works fine for the rest of the day, I'm assuming it's just stuck due to some spillage residue or other junk in the mechanism. Seems that I'll have to pull the center console apart.

One vid I watched had a problem with a relay located in a junction box by the glove box. It was a Mazda 3 based vid.

Does the P5 operate the same way?

TIA
