Default Replacing dead Mazda Protege 5 clicker

My clicker doesn't work any more for my Mazda Protege 5, and I was wondering if I HAVE to get a new clicker from the Mazda dealer, or can I get it somewhere else or simply replace the battery in the clicker? My understanding is if I get a new clicker from the dealer, it's going to cost me about $100 - just trying to find another option that may be cheaper, thanks for any advice you can give me!
