I have a 2001 Protege and had to have the engine replaced last fall. It all happened soon after I had my first EGR valve replaced. Don't know if there is any connection between the two. Luckily, this was covered by my extended warranty. The engine they gave me only has around 40k miles on it, while my odometer reads 70k. I do have proof of the newer engine. (i have a carfax report on it.) How would this affect the value of my car if I were to sell it or trade it in? Would I get more or less than if it were the original engine? Is it information that I should/need to reveal?
