Protege electrical problem
Replaced starter solenoid and battery - Dash looks ok when key is turned on. When trying to start solenoid clicks twice and all dash indication goes out. Starter has been tested. Dash indication will not come back on for awhile.

if battery is new, check that the battery terminals are good. look for corrosion inside the cables. if good, check the ground connections and the connections to the starter. it sounds to me that there is a bad connection. the car headlights have their own circuit and does not need the ignition switch. turn on the lights and try to start the car. if the headlights die, then you either have a bad connection or a bad battery. if the lights dont even dim a little, then the problem is at the starter. a bad connection or a bad starter. what year is the car? auto or manual transmission? again, this sounds like a bad electrical connection or ground.

you replaced the starter solenoid. check the connections. check all battery connections. if battery is ok, and starter is ok, the only thing could be a bad connection at the main fuse, or a bad connection to the battery, starter or ground.

did you check all electrical connections? this is what i would do: check all connections to be correct and solid(batt, starter). make sure battery is ok by pulling it out and trying to start another car with it (if possible). if all that fails, i would start looking at the ignition switch ( but i dont think the problem is there). but lets think about this. battery power goes from the main fuse to the ignition switch, to the starter solenoid. the solenoid closes contacts and applies battery power to the starter motor. you can hear the solenoid click, then no power. that info is what makes me think its the things im suggesting you. check that there is no corrosion at the main fuse contacts.
