Just bought a 2003 Protege 5 w/150k miles for my son. Check engine came on the other day. My Mazda mechanic checked the code and now I'm in the market for ignition coils. Will also install a new set of plug wires as well. Local Mazda dealer quoted $355 for all. Been looking on line and every OEM on-line Mazda parts place shows the coils as discontinued. My mechanic said only buy Mazda coils. Mazda parts guy said he shows availability. Is there any path out there to discounted OEM coils?

Thank you for the suggestions. The eBay prices for OEM are close to the dealer. I don't see OEM on Amazon. The Rock Auto link looks promising though. It claims the Hitachi coil is the actual original equipment part. Is that true?
