Default Passive Alarm Disable

I have a 2002 Protoge5 with a factory alarm system and aftermarket remote starter. The alarm is set to passive mode. Is there any way I can change the mode to active? Does the dealer have to make this change? It has become a concern that I will be locked out of the vehicle. Any help would be appreciated.

If your system is like mine, you have to press the remote button for the doors to lock, they do do lock automatically. If this is the case, you should not have a lock out problem. However, if that Autostartmay be doing something different
