the gasket for the cat is metal. do not use sealant there. just clean with thinner. do not make your life complicated by trying to replace the one that goes at the flange with the spring bolts. thats a conical one. im not sure if it is a conical one made of asbestos or what. i did not replace that. just try not to hurt it. i did not even clean it.

Wow I am really stupid, the reason why they broke because I was tightening them instead of loosing it now it is broke half way in is there a way to get them out?

cool!!!! you just made things more interesting!!!! yes, it is possible to remove them. you just need a bolt extractor and a correct drill bit. can get both at home depot or such, whatever is close to your house. dont worry. just take a sample bolt with you so you can buy the correct extractor and new bolts. for now, just put some pb blaster on them while you go get the extractors. or if you can grab them with a vise grip, you might be able to get them out. just be careful which way you turn them.

wait.... if my memory does not fail me, those are supposed to be studs. you only removed the nuts. if they broke, then the easy way out in this case it to try remove them with a stud extractor(if you have some of it to grab) or just drill them and use new bolts with nuts and lock washers. that is probably what i would do. easy to do because the cat will be out of the car. now, be careful with that oxygen sensor, you dont want to damage it.

2 out of 3 studs broke because I was tightening them instead of loosening it on the bottom of the cat

The oil pan bolts that came out, stick with anti sealant on the threads that was on there since 1999... It's going to be a pain the the butt to remove

My baby in the garage until I come back home from the business trip, at least its not in the below 0 weather outside!

My new exhaust flange because the one connect to my Walker exhaust pipe was in pieces when I removed it

Underneath the cat as you can see the the 2 studs are still intact as they are broken, well at least the filter is clean!

The old exhaust pipe, as you can see the hole where the spring bolts were suppose to go broke off as it was thin and rusted

Removing the cat from the top because drilling out the studs from the bottom was tiring. The nuts where very tight but thanks to my breaker bar and some PB spray, it was a breeze!

The stiffner that was blocking my oil pan, this was a pain in a butt to remove because I had to remove my whole exhaust pipe and this to get my oil pan out

My new walker exhaust pipe!

My tools/work area/bolts waiting for me to come back and be used!
