Mystery Protege
Hello everyone, I have a mysterious 2000-2003 (not sure what exact year) Mazda Protege (Limited sticker on Fender). I checked for year through VIN on the net, but every time it turn to be an invalid VIN. The VIN number even is not standard. JM0BJ10M1001XXXXX (substitute X for any number). You can check it yourself on some site. One site I cannot remember showed some data from the entered VIN. The year was ambigious 00 - 03.
Lately, I've had high fuel consumption. So I diagnosed it from the diagnostics port in the engine bay. Yes, there's no port anywhere near the steering wheel and I found that 2000 - 2003 Proteges don't have 2 but 4 digit diagnostic codes.
The code I get is: OneLong-4sPause-OneLong-2sPause-3Short-4sPause-OneLong-2sPause-2Short-4sPause-OneLong-2sPause-8Short.
The code seems to be 0328 (or P0328). I can't even find this code relevant to a 2000-2003 Protege anywhere on the net. The CEL is not even ON.
Can someone please help and point me in the right direction?
