Mazda Protegé 2001 - Electrical problem
It all started with my radio not sending sound to the speakers on the passenger side. However, by pressing anywhere on the radio, the sound returned. I thought it was probably a bad connection on the back of it. A few months later, however, even the finger technique on the radio was not working. : (
Thereafter, the needle of the "speedometer" and the odometer stopped working. It was then, the one of gasoline a few months later, and finally all the dashboard.
A friend advised me to check the "ground" on the car. I cleaned the one on the driver's side near the negative terminal of the battery. Now the odometer flashes intermittently. What I believe is a good sign.
In conclusion, my battery drains continuously. I must say that I drive this car only occasionally.
Any ideas? Should I clean all the other "ground"? If so, where are they located?
Should I remove the radio as this was the first sign that something was going wrong? If so, how? I've already did some research about it, and even with two kit of radio puller, it does not work.
Thank you and sorry for the bad english

I think you may have a short somewhere. I think so because your battery goes dead. I would first take a multimeter and measure the voltage on the battery, engine off. Then I would start the engine and measure at idle, and at about 2000 rpm. You should have about 12 V standing still, 14 V at idle and at speed. If you can't get 14 V or voltage jumps all over the place your alternator/ regulator has a problem. If you are lucky cleaning all contacts at the alternator/regulator and lines to the battery and the engine will fix the issue. If it doesn't fix it take the alternator out and have it checked at a parts store. They do it for free.
If your alternator and battery are good you may learn to perform the "voltage drop test" to find where the short is. Google for "voltage drop test."
I have a minivan and for some time the info display dimmed and went bright again. After replacing the alternator that problem went away. I have the feeling you have a similar problem.
Good luck to you.

you need a new battery most people don't actually know this but in a dc battery current flow is from negative to positive. because your postive post is actually small than your neggative one. so electrons will flow from negative to positive to make up that diffrence in size. over time you will have this build up around your positive terminal inside the battery and eventually you will lose current flow. Even though if you take a volt meter it will say it has 14 volts but its not the volts that runs your car is the amp's so what im basicly saying is that you need a new battery because your battery is not putting out the required amp's anymore we just changed mine in my f350 because it requires 850 amps to start the truck the battery could only put out 400 amp's. Go to a garage and have them do a load test on your battery im sure it will come up saying you need a new battery.
