Mazda manual
Why do the auto parts stores have Protege manuals only up to 2000? I have a 2001 Protege LX 2.0 since last summer that I would like to get information for. Even internet searches only lead to Ford Probe. What's Up?
I think he may be looking for a "Service Manual"...as opposed to an "Owners manual".
Part of the issue may have something to do with Technology; Most Dealerships these days do not use any actual written on paper service manuals. They opt for a computer software download available from the Corporate offices.
As a technician I use a program known as ALLDATA-pro. [ A data base of service procedures and technical specifications of every car ever made from 1988 to 2011. ]
It cost roughly $150 a month for the subscription. And I don't pay for it, the company I work for does. It is very , very useful.
I myself have been trying to locate a copy of the Service manual for the Protege5 of 2002. They are out there. But be careful buying a download off the internet! Be sure it is from a trusted source and or publisher. Personally I have been looking for a hard copy on CD-ROM or similar.
Any way, fewer and fewer paper copies if Service manuals are available because Corporations / Companies are saving money by not printing manuals [ "being green" ]when they can just use a computer data base for all there information.
P.S; You might try purchasing ALLDATA-Pro for a single vehicle. It can be done. I think it costs $19.95, a one time fee for the info. "REPAIR-PATH.com" is another good one to try. -Definitely worth it. Good-Luck.
