LX 2.0 rear brakes - what gives???
Last year I changed my rear drums, shoes, and springs n things on my '01 Protege LX 2.0 manual.
The brake shoes I bought were different from the ones I took out - they appeared to be made for a car with smaller drums.
I returned them to Autozone/Advance Auto/whatever and got some from Carquest.
Same deal.
I checked Rock Auto and NAPA and they only list one brake shoe or drum # regardless of engine size.
I had to majorly loosen my hand brake cable to get the shoes to go in, and even then they barely fit.
The brakes never felt right and here I am with 30 k miles on them and I'm hearing grindage back there. I imagine the middle part has worn through.
This sucks.
Anyone know if the 2.0 LX has bigger drums and nobody told the parts houses?
