Default Lowering a 2002 Protege

Hi,

I've read a few posts saying that you need new struts to match a set of lowering springs, or the stock struts can wear out quickly. My protege currently has 122,000km's (76,000 miles) on it, and I'm considering dropping it 1-1.5 inches, would I need new struts for this? If not, how long could I expect my current struts to last if I do lower it? Thanks.

Have the struts ever been replaced? If not, then they are due for replacement, as they will be old & tired.
