2002 protege key stuck in ignition, can't get it out

 

I just purchased a 2002 mazda protege, after driving and cutting off,I couldn't get it out park,after getting it out of park,I couldn't remove the key,key is stuck in the ignition

 

Is this a manual or automatic?
Most people have to put it in to park to remove key.
Could it be you are parked on a incline?
When on incline, drive it to where you want it (turns wheels if necessary so car doesn't roll away), put parking brake on, then put gear shift lever in to park for an automatic, now shut key off and remove!?
