My 17 y/o daughter drives a 96 Protege (auto). Today she tells me that she can't get her key out of the ignition. I checked it out and, sure enough, it's stuck in accessory. I asked her if she'd spilled anything recently and she confessed to a huge soda spill two days before right over the shifter.
I've seen some older threads that addressed this but the images no longer show. I assume that I need to pull the console covers and scrub off the parking position switch and solenoid. But, where are they? And how do I get the covers off without tearing them to pieces?
