Idle issues
Checking in in hopes of finding a solution. I have. 2002 Protege LX. I had to do an engine swap (used JDM engine) due to someone changing engine oil and not tightening everything down while my mother owned it. Spun bearings and such so in goes engine. The car will start up fine and idle perfect while cold. As soon as operating temp is reached it will not hold an idle. I have left the car sitting for a while and the gas smells old but no build up in tank. We have done the following to find a solution to the problem to no change...
Fuel pressure test good.
Compression test good.
New IAC.
New fuel injectors.
New Coil packs and plugs.
New Cam and Crank shaft (properly gapped) position sensors.
Smoke machine used to check for vacuum leaks.
New MAF sensor.
All sensors checked with meter.
Timing checked.
Ran a leak down test and was good
And finally cleaned EGR.
The reason for all all the work is I got the car for “free”, has 83k miles and if working properly would make a good car for one of my kids.
Any my thoughts on this mess?
