help with fuel filter

I have an 02 lx and I have been having some issues with sputtering. I have new plugs and wires so I need to replace the fuel filter. I have heard that the filter is part of the pump.. and it cannot be individually replaced. Is this true? Can i just swap out the filter?

you can't swap out the filter. you can only swap it out when you pull the pump.
