I woke up and my 99 Protege ES 1.8L auto with 70k miles won't run. It turns over fine, but will not run. The fuel pump is not comming on, and there is no sparkfrom the plugs. Never gave any indication of trouble. OBDII could not read the computer, gave flashing 8888 code. The fuses are okay, and I jumped the fuel pump directly and it runs okay. There are no mods on the car, and no work has been done on the car prior to this failure. Dealership wants to see the car, but said they don't see many PCM failures, and told me to try disconnecting the mass air sensor? DId it with no luck. Any suggestions?
