I have a 92' Protege. I went to buy new speakers but in the computers at Best Buy and Curciut City, it said that my car took size 4 1/2. I bought them and when I went to install them they fell right throught[:@]. When i measured my old speakers they were 6 1/2. 
Also when looking a plastic spacer for an aftermarket radio, nobody seemed to have 1 that would fit a 92' Protege
. For anyone with this problem, all you have to do is adjust the factory spacer on the plastic part that pops out.

Go to www.crutchfield.com. Just pick your car and everything and it'll tell you the real speaker sizes etc.
