I have a 2000 Protoge LX. When my RPM goes below 1000 it starts to choke. I cleaned out my EGR valve about two months ago because I did not what to spend 200$ for the same part twice. After I cleaned it out it seemed to have solved my problem but now it's doing it again. What could cause it to stick? Should I be looking elsewhere?

 

check for crakes in the main vaccum lines that sometimes is the problem other than that you can take it out again and see if its sticking

don't forget to check the air intake hose , especially near the engine . The hose hides the cracks , inspect throughly. If cracks are found , replace the hose
