so, here's the thing, i need a new car and i was looking at a 2001 protege, auto with 85k miles. So, here we go,

common fault area's?
things to look for to indicate wear?
engine life expectancy?

just looking for some idea's and thoughts outa you guys, you have the car so you know it best. lemme know.

 

garrenteed your coil pack for the spark plugs will fail and your cat converter will fail, it will be the most gutless car you will ever drive if your coming from a nissan car they really only have about 130hp i think i might be wrong on that but with the it having 85k on it im sure the coil pack has already been replaced and maybe the cat but thats really all you will be looking for problem wise other than those 3 things there isn't much else wrong i have never had an oil burning problem, gas wise i do about 650km in the city on my 2000 its a good little car. if you can get passed the gutless part but there is a time when its ithier power or gas ecom and this car is the gas ecom
