coilover kits

Default coilover kits

ive been reading up on coilover kits for 3rd gen proteges for a few months now and ive found that the k sport control coilovers are the best bang for the buck. but then just recently i came across a company called Tokico, who makes an adjustable coilover kit for 3rd gens as well. has anyone heard/ know anything about them?

i like the tokico illumas the best. i have gotten the best results for all applications so far. price wise, i think that they compete pretty well.

i started with the ground control coil overs and ran the stock shocks and its was good enough for me. they ran me for about $300 5 years ago so they might be cheaper now. but then i decided to change my shocks and i the same time i thought id upgrate with coil overs so i got the tein SS coil overs. those run for about $1200 but so far they are way better than the ground controls i had in the past. if you do the math its not that bad of a price if you get a complete coil over springs and shocks. coil overs go for about $200 - $300 and shocks $400 - $500 depending on the brands and types of course. so you are looking at least $600 - $800 for a full set up. the good thing with the teins is #1: the brand name of course and #2: you can adjust the dampner on the shocks to make it loose or tight, and it does work and makes a real difference. of course this is just my opinion, hopefully you can find something you like that you can afford. good luck!

Tokico manufactures the struts and coils for the Gen 2 protege ES models. I ran my original struts to 150,000 miles. I really didn't need to, just felt after that many miles, it was time. I have a 1996 Protege ES, and I can outhandle anything on the road.

Just remember, if you stiffen the suspension, you will harden the ride. I don't know where you live but here in Massachusetts, the pothole kingdom of the world, you really don't want to go too hard around here, you end up rattling the windsheild out
