I own a 2001 Mazda Protege MP3 that I just bought off the lot yesterday, and when I got it home it would not engage first gear, but all other gears engaged when the car was not on.

We rolled the car back, and it went into 1st.

Now, it stalls out when the clutch is in idle, and when it is put into any gear, and accelerated while releasing the clutch, it stalls out.

Dont know what happened, but in the hole $10,000.

Please help!!!

 

Engine stalls even when not putting into gear and trying to move or only when trying to take off from a stop? How about in reverse gear? Can you roll the car when transmission is put into gear with engine off? Try 4th gear. Will be a bit hard to move but should roll forward or back.
