I have a 98 Mazda protuge while accelerating up hill,the engine wants to blog down like it is starving for fuel. Here is what ihave done to try and cure this issue. I have replaced both oxy.sensors, the mass air flow, plugs and wires, timing belt and gears, egr valve, fuel sensor, cleaned the injectors and the thottle body. This has been going on now for four months and i am losing my mind over this. Any help would be a plus.

I have a 97 and I just had similar complaints. I actually found that the rubber tube from the mass air flow sensor to the air cleaner had a large crack on the underbody. I replaced the tube for like 50 bucks. It made a world of difference. I am now back to 35 mpg's and no more check engine light.
