Default A/C switch issue deep dive

Howdy, all. My fiances 2003 Potege has only had functioning AC on fan speed 1, which is insufficient during this time of the year in Florida. I know this is a problem many have faced, but I'd like to gather information on what has worked for others in the past from those who are still active here. The following has been discovered so far:
- no AC on speeds 2-3 (I believe speed 4 bypasses the resistor)
- harness connector to switch extremely warm to the touch when on speed 4
- melted plastic around the connector pins
- discovered that the previous owner had replaced the blower motor resistor (the one I inspected was not factory)
-issues persist with new switch

I plan on checking the resistance to all related parts tomorrow when the sun is out (unfortunately), but any ideas/direction in the right way would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Symptoms would usually indicate the resistor. If that's been replaced once before and some pins have melted, I'm willing to bet it was an incorrect resistor. GE6R-61-B15B should be your part number I think.
