bad camshaft position sensor

Default bad camshaft position sensor

So my camshaft position sensor went bad on my 98 protege and i need to replace it, can anyone tell me were exactly it is located and if it is a simple change, i heard that it is left of the crank pulley but i want to be sure, i also dont want to attempt if it is to hard

I was told that it was built into the distributor. but that was by an auto-parts store employee.

How hard would it be to replace the distributer? Would i have to mess with timing

distributer should be very easy just make sure you mark each spark plug location when taking off
