Default Am I running without an Air Filter?

Hi, I just bough a Protege Automatic 1.8L. Didn't bought the service manual yet, but as with any cars I buy I checked if the air filter is clogged. But to my surprise no air filter was present where I suspected it should be. Am I looking at the wrong place or is my car really running without air filter ? Here is a link to a schematic I just made.

Thanks foryour help

The air filter should be in the box that you have labeled "seems to be sensors". The "empty compartment" is only there to dampen intake air resonance noise.

as well as to reduce turbulance...
