Hi...me and my girlfriend jsut purchased a 02 protege with 50000 k on it. My boss owned a 02 protege5 and bot had problems around 50000 k with the alternator. Just wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

 

there have been a few with alternator problems, but the only thing that i can tell you is to use quality replacement parts and not remanufactured parts. i have never had any problems with any of the protege's that i have owned

 

hmmm..yea...it was covered under warrenty so mazda automatically replaces with remanufactured alternators. Just weird though why it would go so soon into the cars life. both cars @ around 50000 km/s. as well...i have a 2001 mazda mpv which has 120000 km/s and is on its 3rd alternator :S
