I have 2001 protege 1.6l with 140 000k on it , recently replace the alternator with a rebuilt version and installed new battery but now still having problem with dimming lights, slow wippers and radio shuttin down and battery light comes on. Noticed that there is a blue wire coming from alternator plug and going into firewall mechanic unsure of what exactly this is for could it be something the previous owner may have had hooked up could this be the problem?

 

the blue wire is probably a remote wire for an amp or something along those lines. this shouldn't have anything to do with the problem. you could have something as simple as a bad ground wire or you could just have issues with the new alternator. to call them rebuilt, all that they technically have to do is take it apart, clean it up, and put it back together.

 

Or it could be a bad 'voltage regulator' inside the Alternator, which can be replaced.

 

When at higher rpms, my cars headlights get super bright, all of them. It also has trouble shifting when this happens. Can anyone tell me what to fix on this thing. I love the little car.its a 2001 mazda protege with the 2.0 engine
