Experiences with the 90-94 Protege, particularly with the DOHC engine... How many miles before the vehicle became too troublesome?

i have a DX with 159K on the odometer and it still runs very strong for it's age. i got very lucky and bought it before it went on the auction block. it all depends on how well the car was maintained by the previous owner or you if you are the first owner. but i will be looking to get a replacement engine soon.
