2003 P5 Installed FSZE, now what are my options?
I posted this in the other forum, thought I might get some answers here too.
Hello guys,
I was unaware of the differences between the engines so I installed a JDM motor with all the fittings swapped from the original engine.
I have a pinging problem.
Every sensor and coil has been changed. So what are my options at this point?
1. Is this pinging going to kill the engine?
2. All I want is to run the engine without pinging. I do not care for any extra power.
3. I also want it to run at 87 octane.
What are my options now?

I have not tried it because I do not want to run anything other than 87.
It has the stock ECU.
It is Automatic Trans.

Do you know what the compression ratio is for both engines? Could the JDM engine have more advertised compression? If so, you would definitely need the ECM that controlled the JDM engine......not the stock one.
The FSZE engine is OBD-1. It has a different ECU and everything else like manifolds and the crank pulley are different.
I did use the long type spark plugs and it made a lot of difference. However, it was never perfect. I ended up selling it and bought an RB Hyundai Accent. Much better gas mileage, similar power and a lot newer.
Thank you guys for all your help.
